Coldplay/Oxfam Tour

It's a Sunday night and I promised myself I would write up quick post about the Coldplay show that Tiana and I attended (different cities/shows). If you want the setlist of the San Jose show, you can check it out here. But the really great thing about the show IMO was the presence of Oxfam America. They had hundreds of volunteers signing up people who want to learn more about how to eliminate poverty around the world. One of the volunteers mentioned to me that they had a running blog about the tour, and it's really insightful in an altruistic and "concert attending" manner.
So I encourage you to sign up if you attend the show, and to actually speak to one of these volunteers. They signed up for the cause, not for the show :)

Oh, and Coldplay also rocked!

Happy Friday! I'm going to try and keep it short and sweet:

1. So unless you live on a remote island with no wireless signal you know that the newest iPhone model came out today. I'm slightly jealous if you got one, just because I can't decide if it's worth switching providers for it. I don't know if I'd prefer a Blackberry or an iPhone, so I think I'm going to get a Blackberry for now and switch if and when the time is right. :) I am the worst when it comes to making decisions that are going to affect me for years, even if it's a cell phone contract! An iPhone would easily find it's way into my life since I have a Mac, but I don't know how I feel about the touch keyboard. I want to be able to type up long articles, papers and research things for them on my phone, being able to easily copy and paste things. I just don't know. I don't like predictive text! I've read so many articles comparing the two. Help!

2. I love stumbling across funny, inspiring and random videos online. I have a few favorites right now I'd like to share:

ImprovEverywhere - Human Mirror
Conan O'Brien's 2000 Harvard Speech
Tim Minchin - Canvas Bags
Mr. W!
TECHNO CHICKEN!

3. I'm going to see Coldplay on Tuesday and am VERY excited! So excited that I'm getting everyone within reach hooked on them (right Roman?). Not only are they wonderful musicians but they are also involved with and support various charities and causes; in 2003 they promoted and supported the Make Trade Fair campaign while on tour. I've adored Coldplay's music since I first stumbled across "Yellow" and have so many favorites now. It's going to be interesting having it all come to life since I have always wanted to see them live but never had the chance until now. Thanks Seth! :)

4. I don't know what it is about shoes but they make me so happy. I am a bargain shopper too so if I find shoes on sale I'm on cloud nine. I think I found the perfect pair of boots and I am going to make them mine! =] And why must Betsy Johnson do this to me?

5. My parents LOVED The X-Files, so I watched it with them and grew up fearing aliens were going to abduct me in the middle of the night. But I still love Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, and think this auction is awesome. There are three auctions up for the Los Angeles premiere of the new film--The X-Files: I Want to Believe. It premieres in Hollywood on July 23rd at Grauman's Chinese Theater. It includes a meet and greet with Gillian Anderson before the film and is benefiting Neurofibromatosis, Inc., and Artists for A New South Africa (ANSA). There is also an auction for the London premier if you will be in the area and there is another auction for 2 tickets to see Gillian on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on July 22, 2008 (which also includes a meet and greet). Don't miss out! Check out all of the auctions here!

Have a happy weekend!

I am a concert aficionado, I have been to over 300 concerts in my lifetime. If you give me a few hours and a pot of coffee, I can name them all. I am the type of person that prefers to wait 'til the last minute to decide whether I should attend a show or not. Did you know that on any given day, there are hundreds of tickets that are listed to benefit charity? And we're not talking about tickets to your nephew's elementary school's adaptation of "Sweeney Todd " either! All the hottest tours this year, and we're talking prime seats as well!

So next time you're looking for good seats and want to do something good at the same time, look for the ribbon in the Ticket section of eBay. I have my eye on a Coldplay ticket with that ribbon, I was on the fence...but thanks to Tiana, I am in :)

Top 5 - Week 6

Cheers to a wonderful 3-day weekend! 4-day for some lucky ones. =] There are many reasons to be happy today:

1. Happy Fourth of July! I'm glad I'm feeling better because I'm ready for some BBQ, time with friends, and want to watch some fireworks over the ocean. Please have good, safe fun!

2. I'm not sick anymore! I have been in bed all week. I usually don't get sick, but when I do I am a big fat baby. I tried teas and fluids and fruit and veggies (when I had an appetite) but nothing seemed to work. The only thing I wanted was phở, so after satiating that craving and watching Wall-E with a good friend I am feeling much better. =] Yesterday my roommate kindly gave me some medicine that I thought was non-drowsy. I misread it and, in my desperation to feel better, took it right before I went to class. I stopped by Starbucks for a Spinach Feta Wrap (SO DELICIOUS!) and couldn't even make it halfway to class. I stumbled back to my bed and fell asleep for a few more hours.

3. I'm going to see Coldplay in less than two weeks! I'm so excited! I absolutely adore their music and to hear it live will bring so much to life. There are many other concerts I'm excited about this summer and it's really nice to go to a show again. I think the last real concert I went to was John Mayer and that was in December! Far too long. I can't wait for Mike Einziger's special End.>Vaccum show either (he gives insight into the name of the project around 10:39)! Did you know he was accepted to Harvard to study music? I love that the members of Incubus don't just stop at creating wonderful music. They are incredibly philanthropic, eco-friendly and pursue the other loves of their lives. So many reasons why they're my favorites. =]

4. I have always had a fascination with surf culture and the peaceful feeling when at/in the ocean, so I'm really excited that the US Open of Surfing is coming up soon too. I look forward to helping out, watching competitions and meeting new people each year. Speaking of the ocean, I bought a really cool Twister beach towel at Target for only $10!!! They also have a Tic Tac Toe, Checkers and a few others neat towels. Pick one up!

5. I've had a few more opportunities presented to me to work with children in the coming school year and that really excites me. I love molding young minds and being a positive influence in their lives.

Okay I'll stop there, but make sure you follow my links. I love Google. I find some pretty random links through it. =] Okay--I'm starvin'!

Peace, love and good health to you and yours this sun-shiny weekend!
