As a follow up to Christine’s post the other day, you may have heard that the death count now stands at approximately 15,000 and many estimate the human loss to be significantly higher. It’s simply tragic.
If you feel compelled to help (which I hope you do), I just wanted to share a couple more ideas…
We at eBay and PayPal have worked with our friends at MissionFish to set up a special fund to collect donations. 100% will be distributed to organizations conducting relief and recovery work in the area, such as Save the Children and World Vision.
Additionally, you can buy or sell items on eBay to support the efforts, all facilitated by the eBay Giving Works program. Successful charity listings via eBay Giving Works will receive credits back on eBay’s standard Insertion and Final Value Fees, proportional to the percentage of the final sale price that is donated to the cause. To learn more, please visit the eBay Giving Works Fee Credit Policy.
I’d love to encourage you to post a comment of sympathy and support for the people in China, and please share ways you’re doing your part to help out.

Being here in China and knowing people whose families have been directly affected by this terrible disaster makes it so much more real than hearing about it halfway around the world.
Knowing that close to 7000 schools were destroyed in the quake makes me think, "What if that were my school? my students?" My heart goes out to all those who are enduring this hardship, losing family and friends, walking miles in search of food, water, shelter, and care.
The school I teach at, and numerous other schools and businesses in Shanghai are collecting donations for the China Red Cross. Please do what you can to help.
