Thank you for giving me hope in the next generation of Hollywood starlets Hayden.
What do we need to do to get the rest of your generation to start seeking attention in positive ways instead of living in the days of "no such thing as bad press"?
I do, thank you. I still feel very green.
I am sorry you feel burned by eBay, I truly am.
Parts of eBay are broken and it need to be fixed, yes; but I also know that eBay offered a unique opportunity to millions of "single moms and old folk" that they may have never had otherwise.
I am actually encouraged by the passion and the fire in your comments, it shows that you still care.
Keep fighting the good fight Henrietta, if only everyone had that fire inside.
Great post Hannah....and I feel ya.
I am a pretty strict vegetarian and if cheese weren't so damn good I'd be close to vegan, but I have to admit that the uber militant vegans make me laugh. They are usually doing it more for the attention or just to be different and stand out from the crowd more than anything else. They also usually subside on a wonderful diet of junk food.
It really is possible to be just a normal vegetarian/vegan, but these nut jobs give us all a bad name and make "newbies" or potential converts believe they have to take everything to the extreme in order to be "true" vegetarian and it scares people away. It really upsets me.
I don't wear or buy leather, I donate to and support animal specific charities, I will educate people in a civil manner if they'd like to know more about vegetarianism and compassion towards animals and I try hard not to give vegetarians a bad name. We really aren't all a bunch of nut jobs.......really.
I too highly recommend "Diet for New America" for anyone wanting to learn more.

In my experience, even when people seem to be polar opposites they actually have a lot of deep seeded ideals in common and those are what really attracts them to each other. Back when I was still dating I dated numerous carnivores but always found myself more attracted to the veggies; probably because this was something that meant a lot to me, so someone with this same belief was always more attractive to me psychologically. Now that my (vegetarian) wife and I are expecting our first kid, this is a value that matters even more to me and I also appreciate even more that I married someone with this same value. Once kids come into the picture, things get even more complicated with values that were compromised to try and make a relationship work (or easier for ones that weren't).
You have got to love it when charities or anyone looking for volunteers are not lenient at all with the hours and days which they will "accept" your help. The other things that really gets me and I know it seems totally unrelated.....
Charities that organize races, walks and athletic events but will ONLY let you enter if you fundraise via pledges. I don't think they realize that they would get a lot more people involved and make a lot more money if they gave people the option of fundraising (for sweet prizes) or by just paying a $40 entry fee. I would love to raise funds for a race a month, but when you are hitting up the same people monthly for every charity race you want to enter, people get rather burned out. ("oh great, another race for JD")
Sorry....a bit of a rant, but it is kind of related....right? :)
What I am saying is....do you want my money or not?? Do you want as many people participating as possible? Then it would help to not have so many restrictions.
What a great way to look at ridding yourself of the things you do not need in life and that could potentially damage the world in which we live. it really is like doing a big cleanse isn't it? it is literally a detox.
Great post!!
It's true..... unfortunately too many people get involved in good work and volunteerism based solely on it being a "cool" thing to do. Not necessarily bad though, at least they are getting involved even if for the "wrong" reasons. In fact, is there really such thing as a "wrong" reason if it is making a difference in someone's life?
This is why we need celebrities, musicians and people of influence to make charity work and environmentalism the new "it" thing. ;)
Great insight into this issue.
I hope this movie gets a somewhat wide release and I am able to see it when it comes out.
Like you said, when people are raised in a society that prefers to sweep things under the rug rather than face them head on and/or even admit that such problems exist, people are not able to cope with them without the help of prescription drugs.
YESSSS!!!! Musicians that care.....always a good thing.
Using the influence that you know you have to make a difference rather than making people buy into useless aesthetics.
@1knight87:
I hear ya....
I have a stack of "green" bags at home, can never remember to take them shopping with me and I always end up buying more. So the question arises.....is it still better to keep buying these bad boys or just get the stores plastic one's occasionally? I guess since they are recycled, it's better to pop the extra .99 cents
Hey why not, most people already pay $3.00 for a bottle of what they don't realize is tap water!!
Damn...doesn't look like it is happening in Vancouver, BC. :(
Seems rather archaic doesn't it??
Who these days will buy anything without playing with it, hearing it, tasting it, etc. etc. first?
The flyer/catalog model of marketing should be put away on a shelf somewhere. Let's get some creative (green) minds out there coming up with green ways to promote what they are trying to sell us. I love the idea of a flash drive. Bands can stick a few tracks on them along with stunning press kits and then leave plenty of space so people can keep using those bad boys over and over and over again.
